Apple fixes SSL security bug, adds FaceTime audio calls in OS X Mavericks 10.9.2


Apple(s aapl) released OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 on Tuesday with a number of additions and fixes, most notably the closure of an SSL security hole found last week. Mac users can find the software update in the OS X App Store.

The release notes for the software don’t specifically mention this fix, but tests show the vulnerability no longer exists. Before the update, a malicious website could represent itself as a trusted site and intercept encrypted data on what looks like a secure connection. The SSL issue was also present in iOS 7 but Apple addressed that vulnerability in a software update last week.

The full Apple change log is here but some of the notable highlights include the addition of FaceTime audio call support, call waiting in FaceTime and the ability to block individuals in iMessage.
